Science Foundation
Course Aims
• To provide the knowledge and understanding
necessary for degree level work in engineering
or another science based university course.
• To extend students’ ability in IT and
computing skills.
• To provide a firm mathematical foundation
for a science-based degree.

Presentations give an opportunity to assess a
student’s ability to communicate, orally and in
writing, the results of their research. All students
have support modules in ICT, English language
and study skills.

Students may study Physics and Mathematics
with Chemistry or Biology and Mathematics with
Chemistry. Students may opt for an Art and
Design module instead of Chemistry if this is
appropriate to their higher education course.
IELTS Academic Module 5.0 (5.5 in reading and
writing) is required to join these courses.
