For students to make good academic progress they need to be
both happy and healthy. St. Andrew's has always paid great
attention to the domestic life of each of its students. The
Accommodation Officer monitors all students carefully and
keeps a watchful and sympathetic eye on their general welfare.
In practice this means that she makes regular visits to all
types of accommodation, she liaises closely with housewardens
and Academic Supervisors and, when required, she arranges
appointments with the College doctor.
Diet
The College can make provision for students with particular
dietary requirements whether this is for religious or medical
reasons.
Halls of Residence
All college owned accommodation is fully supervised
and comes under strict regulations as laid down by the British
Government's Department of Health, Social Services and Fire
Safety.
Typical bedroom in hall of residence
The halls offer
comfortable accommodation in twin or single bedrooms, many with
en-suite showers. Each hall is small and friendly and supervised
by St. Andrew’s staff.
The live in house warden provides breakfast and dinner on site
and students are able to prepare snacks in the common room.
Lunch can also be taken at one of the many cafes or restaurants
in the local area. Accommodation costs include breakfast and
evening meals seven days a week, mealtimes may vary slightly
at the weekend for each hall of residence to allow flexibility
to both students and wardens. Personal laundry, bedding
and room cleaning are done on a weekly basis, with bed linen
and towels supplied by the hall of residence.
The common rooms all have TV DVD and free wireless Internet/email
access. Our halls offer students independence whilst still providing
the care and supervision they need. The housewarden is there
to help guide students through their stay in hall and also acts
as a surrogate parent in times of need to provide a caring,
friendly environment for our students.
Please note that halls of residence
are extremely
popular and should be reserved by deposit (see
application form for terms) well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Host Family Accommodation
Equal
care is taken over the accommodation of those students who
prefer to stay with a host family in Cambridge. The College’s
Accommodation Officer makes regular visits to all host family
accommodation to ensure that high standards of hygiene and
food are maintained and that our students are being well cared
for.
Host family accommodation offers the opportunity to experience
British Culture living with one of the Cambridge families
who look after our students each year. Parents and students
have the assurance that St. Andrew’s is registered with
the British Government's Department for Education and has
a statutory obligation to ensure that all families' backgrounds
are thoroughly checked.
Inspections of all our facilities, including host family accommodation,
have been made by Her Majesty's Inspectors and by inspectors
of The British Accreditation Council.
All host family accommodation is in single rooms with appropriate
study facilities. Personal laundry, bedding and room cleaning
are done on a weekly basis, with bed linen and towels supplied
by the host family.
Students over 18 years of age may arrange their own private
accommodation.
