Welcome Message from The Principal

September 3, 2018

On the first day of the new term, I would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome you to St. Andrew’s College for the 2018-2019 academic year!

The past few years have been very exciting at St. Andrew’s as we move forward with our plans to make the college a leading international 6th form. However, we do not plan to rest on our success; instead we want to ensure we achieve the goal of becoming the best college possible for each and every one of our students. Some people will say it’s impossible to truly be the best. But we like to think that we have the right idea in how to confront what those naysayers believe. We prefer to adopt “a healthy disregard for the impossible.” Embracing that thought process will allow opportunities for our students to excel during their time at St. Andrew’s.

What you can expect from St. Andrew’s and what St. Andrew’s expects from each student:

As a college, we ask our students to do very simple but extremely important things during their time at St. Andrew’s. We believe if they do these things not only will they be successful and improve themselves, but we will continue to be a college that we can all be very proud of.

Be Kind

The expectation is not just of being tolerant of others in our college community, but to truly accept all with kindness.  “To the world you are one person, but to one person you are the world.”

Find your Passion

Whether it is engineering, architecture, sports, law, or maths, at St. Andrew’s we will make sure you have the opportunity to find your passion through the classes, clubs, and sports available to you. If you don’t see it, lets start it!

Commit to Excellence

In six ways:
1) Participate in the clubs, sports, and activities that are available,
2) Earn at least 6 participation and progress points per term
3) Attend all of your IELTS classes (if applicable) to ensure you can enhance your learning and fulfil your potential
4) Demonstrate good citizenship
5) Maintain a 95% attendance rate
6) Complete your chosen course with an acceptable grade to go to your chosen university.

With our students and staff firmly committed to these pillars of our college, I have full faith that we will indeed make St. Andrew’s College Cambridge the best college for every single one of our students.
