St. Andrew’s College Care of Under 18s statement

    It is assumed by the college that students aged 14+ are coming to the college are able to live and travel independently.

    This means that:

    • Students are expected to travel to and from their lessons independently.
    • Outside of lesson times your child may not be supervised.
    • Host families will do their best to ensure that students leave the homestay punctually so that they can get to lessons on time. If students do not arrive at college on time, they will be contacted by our staff. If they can’t be contacted, their host parent will help to locate them.
    • The students will be free after lessons to go into town and carry out other activities of their choice without supervision. Quiet study time in halls is 1900 and 2200 but there are no checks in place to ensure that students are studying at this time.
    • If they do not arrive on time for their curfew they will be contacted on their mobile phone. If the student still cannot be located, the College Missing Pupil Procedure will be followed. There will be times when they are left unsupervised in their hall of residence host family. This may be during the day on any day of the week. There will always be a house manager present overnight, from 2200 to 1000.
    • Curfews are as follows:
    • 14 years of age 22.00 hours by taxi
    • 15-16 years of age 22.30 hours by taxi
    • 17 years of age 23.00 hours
    • 18 years and over 23.30 hours
    • Students aged 18 and over may request extensions on Friday and Saturday nights but must make their request by 1900 before leaving the hall.
    • Students under the age of 18 must have written permission from their parents via e-mail in order to obtain a late pass.
