Who is the one year GCSE course for?
The one-year GCSE is designed for three groups of students. International students arriving in the UK mid-cycle who need GCSE-level qualifications before starting A-Level. Students whose current English level (typically IELTS 5.0) means they need a year of intensive English uplift alongside academic content. Students aiming for a fast-track route into a UK boarding school Cambridge sixth-form environment, particularly where they want to take A-Levels in two years rather than three.
Why study GCSEs at St Andrew’s College Cambridge?
Our one-year GCSE works because it combines four things rarely found in one place. An average class size of 8 students, which means every learner is known. Subject teachers with deep experience of working with international students at GCSE level. Daily personal tutoring, so progress is reviewed weekly across every subject. And integrated IELTS preparation built into the timetable, so English progress runs alongside academic progress rather than being squeezed into evening sessions.
