Social Events & Trips

Our Student Council organises social events and trips at the college.  They liaise with the student body to ascertain what the students would like to take part in and organise with support from the St Andrew’s staff.

Recent events have included:

  • Film Nights
  • Astronomy Night
  • Traditional Afternoon Tea at Grantchester Tea Rooms
  • River Walk and Picnic
  • Games Night

The highlight of the social calendar every year is the Summer Ball organised by the Student Council where the students dress up formally and eat, drink, dance & party the night away.  Cambridge has a tradition of holding University May Balls every year and the whole city is full of marquees and dancing during May.

We celebrate national days in college, hold Christmas, Halloween and Valentine’s Day parties and celebrate Chinese New Year.

In addition, our students enjoy visiting local attractions in Cambridge such as punting on the River Cam, climbing St Mary’s Church Tower, visiting museums and art galleries, going to the theatre and attending Cambridge University festivals, lectures and plays, ice skating, cinema trips and bowling.

Day trips, study trips and sports events are organised through our partner Travel sights and have included in the past visits to the Harry Potter Museum, theme parks such as Thorpe Park and Alton Towers, attending pop concerts in London and visits to the Cadbury’s Chocolate Factory.  Our students also enjoy attending Premier League football matches, Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and visiting cities and attractions such as Brighton, Stonehenge and Oxford.

As Cambridge is so close to London some of our students often choose to visit the capital to attend the theatre, visit art galleries, go to music concerts or museums and ascend the London Eye.
