How does the college identify what each student needs?
It starts with the personal tutor system. Every student at St Andrew’s meets their tutor weekly for one-to-one sessions that cover academic progress, target-setting, and wellbeing. Because class sizes are small and the community is close-knit, teachers spot potential — and problems — early.
What programmes exist for students aiming high?
The college runs a dedicated Extension and Enrichment Programme designed to stretch students beyond the A-Level syllabus. This includes super-curricular reading, academic workshops, and activities that develop the critical thinking and intellectual curiosity universities are looking for. Students can also undertake an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is particularly valued by competitive courses.

The CEIAG programme at St Andrew’s goes well beyond filling in a UCAS form. Staff help students find work placements and volunteering opportunities, develop compelling personal statements, and prepare for the interviews that competitive courses demand.
