St Andrew’s College Cambridge is celebrating an exceptional set of University Foundation results for 2026, with outstanding academic achievement matched by an exceptional 100% university progression rate.
This year the programme delivered some of its strongest results:
- 46% achieved Distinction with Honours – the highest possible grade
- 80% achieved Distinction or above
- 94% achieved Merit or above
- 100% achieved Pass or above
- 100% of students are progressing to universities around the world
- More than 80% are progressing to leading UK universities, including Russell Group institutions
Students are now preparing to take up places at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities, including the University of Manchester, King’s College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Sheffield and the University of Bristol, alongside University of the Arts London (UAL) and various universities across the world.
The results highlight both the exceptional academic standards of the St Andrew’s University Foundation Programme and its success in preparing students for progression to leading universities. Almost half of the cohort secured a Distinction with Honours, while 4 out of every 5 students achieved a Distinction or above.
Designed as a rigorous and flexible Level 3 pathway to higher education, the St Andrew’s University Foundation Programme combines academic study with applied learning. This includes independent research, coursework, presentations and formal examinations. Students are encouraged not simply to achieve excellent grades, but to develop the academic confidence, independence and skills needed to thrive at university.
Our Foundation programme is about opening doors while maintaining the highest academic expectations. It provides students with a flexible and personalised route to university without limiting their ambition. Seeing our students now progressing to outstanding universities in the UK and around the world is the best possible demonstration of what the programme can achieve.
The College’s University Foundation Programme provides an inclusive and ambitious alternative pathway to traditional A Levels, enabling students to specialise in many areas. These include: Business, Economics, Humanities, Law, Psychology, International Relations, Science, Engineering, Computer Science and the Arts.
The results are also a testament to the dedication of St Andrew’s teaching and support staff, whose small-class teaching and highly personalised academic guidance enable students to fulfil their potential and prepare successfully for the demands of higher education.
For the Class of 2026, their exceptional results are launching them towards outstanding futures. From Cambridge classrooms to universities around the world, 100% of our Foundation students are moving forward to the next stage of their education.
